We were pleased to attend the 5th anniversary celebration of the Cape Cod Young Professionals, held at the Chatham Bars Inn on November 5th, sponsored by Nauset Disposal and Comcast Business Services. 

We also attended the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce event held at the the Willowbend Country Club.  It was great to see fellow Chamber members and meet members of the Mashpee Chamber as well.

Nauset Disposal along with Amvets Post 333 will be collecting food home goods for Ma Otis’s food Pantry. Please help us support our veterans as they have put their lives on the line for us and our country. This year our annual food drive, "Curb Hunger", will have collection spots at numerous businesses throughout the Cape, along with residential pick ups to help veterans and their families in need around the holiday season.

If you are interested in donating by residential pick up please place donations next to your trash bins on the day of your scheduled pick up. We ask for your help again to raise awareness and goods for this great cause. The holiday season is the most difficult time for families in need, help us to bring them some much needed holiday cheer.

Amvets post 333 is a post of about 100 veterans who are dedicated and active in helping veterans, armed forces members and their families. They actively follow changes in benefits and inform all of their families and friends of what's happening to veterans. The post often provides personal services, support and funding to those in need.

Ma Otis’s Pantry was started was December 2009 by Jodi Fiske, Michelle Atlak, Maria Wood and lots of help from friends in ALL places including military spouses, active duty members, military retirees and veterans who saw a need in their community and set about helping their neighbors. In this holiday season we need to support this great fully volunteer run organization by getting them the donations they need to keep their mission going.

We will be collecting food from October 4th thru November 18th. Please be as generous as possible by dropping off any non perishable item, laundry detergents, diapers, toilet paper, etc. Every little bit helps! We all need to make every effort to help our returning soldier’s transition back into normal life on Cape Cod.

Beware of valet services offering discounts.

If a valet parking company was not already offering you their best price, why would they have to offer a discount? One quasi competitor even claims, "If you have a valid quote from a valet company or shuttle service I will beat there (oops, their typo) price by 30% or more."  Perhaps in the future they will add that they will beat the price of taxi cabs, limos, dry cleaning service, and the florist too! 

To be sure you are getting what you pay for, get written proof of insurance. (Many experts recommend calling the insurance company to verify coverage, because some fly-by-night companies have provided forged insurance documents.) Check for complaints with the Better Business Bureau. (Here is a link to our BBB review.)

Check with your tax professional to be sure that the rate charged is sufficient for the valet service to cover not only insurance costs but to cover payroll tax obligations.

We've been asked why we don't publicize and share the names of hosts and names of private events. We believe that private events are just that. Private. If an event does advertise our service to their guests, we have listed those events in our blog.  We are happy to provide listings of references at any time. But, we feel that posting (and in some cases by certain quasi competitors, bragging) about events that we have provided our professional valet parking attendant service to, is amateurish. 

A breezy rainy start to Labor Day weekend

This past week gave us many challenges with the forecast of a Hurricane. (Never a good thing when your wedding or special event is scheduled during the same time!)  We were able to accommodate and re-schedule several weddings to next Saturday, September 11th on Cape Cod.  We had a "rush" wedding rehearsal dinner party that was scheduled for 8pm in Orleans, yesterday.  With the storm, all was pushed back to 5pm and all went well, with the rain holding off until much later.  This weekend keeps us busy valet parking for events in Gloucester, Falmouth, Lynnfield, Plymouth, Bourne and Sandwich.  

 

For those who left Cape Cod fearing the worst from the Hurricane, come back! The weather is great and businesses are ready to serve you. Plymouth and Boston buses are running on schedule.  Hy-Line Cruises reports that all is well with their high speed ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.  However, their "traditional" service to both islands is canceled for the day.

Cape Cod Travel Guide reports:  "Come on down!  Governor Patrick made a stop in Chatham this morning to make sure everything was OK and to give everyone the green light to enjoy the rest of the Labor Day weekend."

Last minute bookings and the CCHMA event...

This has been a most productive week in terms of last minute bookings. We booked 3 last minute wedding events for Labor Day weekend.  We're very pleased that we've confirmed that we'll be providing valet parking to 10 more events in September.  With our expansion into the Vermont and New Hampshire areas, we look forward to enhancing events with our professional valet parking services.

It was great to attend the Cape Cod Hospitality Marketing Association event at the Wequassett Resort where three scholarships to Cape Cod and Islands students were presented.  Andy Ross and the great staff at the Wequassett Resort did a fine job and the weather was superb.

After 21 years, Rich B. is "hanging up his sneakers" and retiring from valet parking.  Besides being a valued and treasured employee, Rich is a trusted friend.  Rich started with us back in 1989 as we opened up the former Weylu's in Saugus, Massachusetts.  This restaurant had a seating capacity of 1500, but with a parking capacity of 150. Parking was a challenge, but the dedication and professionalism that Rich brought made my decision to make him the Operations Manager an easy one.  Thank you, Rich for 21 great years.  We watched your young children grow and, after Saturday, both are married.  I'm thankful for all your years of hard work.
